Canada Express Entry Job Offer Points 2026: Eligibility and New CRS Rules
Planning to apply for Canada permanent residence? Understanding how job offers affect your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score can help you prepare for the upcoming Express Entry changes.
From November 3, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is introducing a new Labour Market Integration factor. Eligible candidates may receive points based on Canadian work experience or a qualifying job offer in an eligible high-wage occupation.
1. How Many CRS Points Can a Job Offer Provide?
Under the announced rules, eligible job offers may receive the following CRS points based on the occupation's wage level:
100 points: Occupations with a median wage at least twice the overall Canadian median wage threshold.
70 points: Occupations with a median wage at least 1.5 times, but less than twice, the threshold.
50 points: Occupations with a median wage at least 1.3 times, but less than 1.5 times, the threshold.
0 points: Job offers outside the eligible high-wage occupation levels under this factor.
Your job offer must meet IRCC's requirements and be for an occupation on the official eligible high-wage occupation list.
2. What Makes a Job Offer Eligible?
A job offer must be valid under the relevant Express Entry rules and relate to an eligible high-wage occupation to earn points under the new factor.
Generally, the offer must be for full-time, continuous work in Canada for at least one year after you become a permanent resident. Additional requirements may apply to specific occupations.
IRCC will also assess whether the offer is genuine, whether the employer can fulfil its terms, and whether you are qualified and likely to perform the work.
A work permit alone does not count as a job offer.
3. How Will LMIA Requirements Change?
From November 3, 2026, a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) will no longer be required for a qualifying job offer to receive the new CRS points or meet the specified job offer requirements under the Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program.
However, an LMIA will no longer provide additional CRS points or give your Express Entry profile priority.
Important: Removing the LMIA requirement does not mean every job offer will qualify. IRCC will continue to verify the offer and employer.
4. Can You Combine Job Offer Points With Canadian Work Experience Points?
No. Under the new Labour Market Integration factor, candidates can receive points based on either qualifying Canadian work experience or a qualifying high-wage job offer, not both.
IRCC will compare the available options and award the one that gives you the higher score. The maximum under this factor is 150 points for candidates without an accompanying spouse or common-law partner and 140 points for candidates with an accompanying spouse or common-law partner.
5. What Should Existing Express Entry Applicants Do?
If you already have an Express Entry profile, review your job offer details and ensure all required information is accurate before November 3, 2026.
IRCC plans to recalculate existing profiles when the changes take effect. This may take up to two weeks, during which invitation rounds will be paused.
Follow the official IRCC instructions for updating your profile, particularly if you have a job offer that has not yet been included.
6. Where Can You Check Eligible Occupations?
IRCC determines eligible high-wage occupation levels using National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes and Canadian wage data. The assessment is based on the occupation's median wage across Canada, not simply your individual salary.
Check the official list before assuming your occupation or job offer qualifies.
Conclusion
The Canada Express Entry job offer points changes scheduled for November 3, 2026, may benefit candidates with qualifying job offers in eligible high-wage occupations. Depending on the wage level, eligible offers may provide 50, 70 or 100 CRS points.
Review the requirements carefully, keep your profile accurate and use official IRCC information when making decisions. Additional CRS points do not guarantee an Invitation to Apply or permanent residence approval.
