Express Entry CRS Calculator 2026: New Points, Job Offer Rules and Eligibility
Planning to apply for Canadian permanent residence through Express Entry? Understanding your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is an important step in assessing your immigration options.
The Express Entry CRS Calculator 2026 helps candidates estimate their score based on factors such as age, education, language proficiency, work experience and other qualifying criteria. Canada has also announced significant changes to how points are awarded for Canadian work experience and qualifying job offers, effective November 3, 2026.
These updates make it important for applicants to review their profiles and understand how the new rules may affect their CRS scores.
What Is the Express Entry CRS Calculator?
The Comprehensive Ranking System is a points-based system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to rank eligible candidates in the Express Entry pool.
The CRS evaluates several factors, including age, education, official language proficiency, work experience and additional eligibility factors.
Candidates receive a score out of a maximum of 1,200 points. IRCC invites candidates to apply for permanent residence through invitation rounds, with cut-off scores varying according to the type and requirements of each round.
Major Express Entry CRS Updates for 2026
From November 3, 2026, IRCC is introducing changes to points for Canadian work experience and qualifying job offers.
The key updates include:
1. A new Labour Market Integration factor
The new factor awards points for either eligible Canadian work experience, including additional points for experience in eligible high-wage occupations, or a qualifying job offer in an eligible high-wage occupation.
Candidates who qualify under both options receive the option that provides the higher score. The points cannot be combined.
2. Changes to job offer points
Qualifying job offers in eligible high-wage occupations may receive 50, 70 or 100 CRS points, depending on the occupation's median wage compared with the overall Canadian median wage.
3. Changes to LMIA requirements
From November 3, 2026, an LMIA will no longer be required for qualifying job offers used for specified Express Entry program eligibility and CRS points purposes. A job offer must still meet the applicable requirements and be assessed as genuine.
4. Automatic recalculation of existing profiles
IRCC will recalculate existing Express Entry profiles when the changes take effect. The process may take up to two weeks, during which invitation rounds will be paused.
How Is Your CRS Score Calculated?
Your CRS score depends on several factors.
Age: Candidates generally receive the highest age-related points between 20 and 29 years of age. Points decrease as age increases beyond this range.
Education: Canadian credentials or foreign qualifications supported by an eligible Educational Credential Assessment may contribute to your score.
Language proficiency: Results from approved English or French language tests can influence your CRS score. Stronger results may improve your ranking.
Work experience: Eligible Canadian work experience contributes to CRS points. Foreign work experience may also help through skills transferability factors when the relevant conditions are met.
Spouse or common-law partner factors: Depending on your circumstances, your spouse's education, language proficiency and Canadian work experience may contribute points.
Additional factors: Other qualifying factors, such as a provincial nomination, may increase your score. A provincial nomination can provide 600 additional CRS points under the applicable rules.
The points available depend on your individual circumstances and the criteria in force when your profile is assessed.
New CRS Points for Qualifying Job Offers
Under the changes effective November 3, 2026, qualifying job offers in eligible high-wage occupations may receive points under the new Labour Market Integration factor.
The announced points structure is:
At least twice the overall Canadian median wage: 100 points
At least 1.5 times but less than twice the median wage: 70 points
At least 1.3 times but less than 1.5 times the median wage: 50 points
Below the eligible high-wage threshold: 0 points under this factor
A job offer must satisfy the applicable Express Entry requirements. Simply receiving an offer from a Canadian employer does not guarantee additional CRS points.
The assessment also considers whether the offer is genuine, whether the employer can meet its terms, and whether the candidate is qualified to perform the job.
How Canadian Work Experience May Affect Your CRS Score
Canadian work experience remains an important factor in Express Entry.
Under the announced changes, candidates with eligible Canadian work experience in high-wage occupations may receive additional points, provided they meet the requirements.
For qualifying high-wage Canadian work experience, the additional points are:
Occupations at least twice the median wage: 70 additional points
Occupations at least 1.5 times the median wage: 40 additional points
Eligible occupations at least 1.3 times the median wage: 20 additional points
Generally, candidates must have at least 12 months or 1,560 hours of qualifying Canadian work experience in eligible high-wage occupations to receive these additional points.
The overall Labour Market Integration factor has a maximum of 150 points for candidates without an accompanying spouse or common-law partner and 140 points for candidates with an accompanying spouse or common-law partner.
Candidates who do not qualify for the additional high-wage points may still receive the applicable points for the duration of their eligible Canadian work experience.
How to Use the Express Entry CRS Calculator 2026
Follow these steps to estimate your score:
Step 1: Confirm your Express Entry eligibility
Check whether you meet the eligibility requirements for at least one Express Entry program.
Step 2: Enter your age
Provide your current age if you are preparing a profile. If you have already received an invitation, use your age on the invitation date as instructed by IRCC.
Step 3: Add your education details
Select your highest qualifying education. If you studied outside Canada, ensure you have the required Educational Credential Assessment where applicable.
Step 4: Enter your language test results
Use your valid results from an approved language test. Language scores must meet the applicable validity requirements.
Step 5: Include work experience
Enter your qualifying Canadian and foreign work experience accurately. Do not count experience that does not meet the relevant rules.
Step 6: Review spouse and additional factors
Provide the required information about your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable, and any other qualifying factors.
Step 7: Review the result
Use the estimated CRS score as a planning guide. Your final score and eligibility depend on IRCC's assessment and the information in your profile.
What Should Existing Express Entry Candidates Do?
If you already have an Express Entry profile, review your information before the November 3, 2026 changes take effect.
Ensure that your work history, education, language results and qualifying job offer details are accurate. Candidates who have a valid job offer without an LMIA and have not included it in their profile should review IRCC's instructions for updating the information.
IRCC has stated that existing profiles will be recalculated when the changes take effect. The recalculation may take up to two weeks, and invitation rounds will be paused during that period.
A higher CRS score does not guarantee an invitation to apply. Invitations depend on the applicable round, eligibility requirements and CRS cut-off score.
